About the Project

Every Medical Device. Managed, Insured, and Traded in One Place.

Medical Eng is a platform built around the full lifecycle of a medical device — from acquisition to maintenance, insurance, and eventual resale. Clinics and healthcare facilities have historically managed all of this through separate channels: a supplier for new equipment, a technician for repairs, a broker for used sales, and an insurance provider for coverage. Medical Eng consolidates all of it.

Device Management & Repair

Clinics register their medical devices on the platform and manage them from a single dashboard. When a device develops a fault or requires servicing, the clinic submits a repair request directly through the app — describing the issue, attaching documentation, and tracking the repair status from submission to resolution.

  • Full device inventory management per clinic
  • Repair and maintenance request submission
  • Request tracking — from submission through diagnosis, repair, and return
  • Service history log for every registered device

Device Insurance

Clinics can take out insurance coverage on their registered devices directly through the platform. Policies are tied to specific devices, coverage details are visible at a glance, and claims can be initiated when needed — without navigating a separate insurance process.

  • Insurance coverage per device
  • Policy management and renewal
  • Claim submission linked to device records and repair history

Medical Device Marketplace

The marketplace opens the platform to buying and selling — in both directions and for both new and used equipment:

  • Companies and suppliers list new medical devices for sale, reaching clinics actively looking for equipment
  • Clinics and individuals list used devices they no longer need, turning idle equipment into recovered value
  • Buyers browse by device type, condition, and specification — with seller profiles and device history available before purchase

The Result

A clinic using Medical Eng manages its entire device operation — what it owns, what needs fixing, what is insured, and what it wants to buy or sell — without leaving the platform.

  • Medical Device Inventory Management
  • Repair & Maintenance Request Submission
  • Repair Status Tracking
  • Device Service History Log
  • Device Insurance — Per-Device Policies
  • Insurance Claim Submission
  • New Medical Device Marketplace
  • Used Medical Device Marketplace
  • Seller Profiles — Companies & Individuals
  • Device Condition & Specification Listings
  • Clinic Dashboard — Devices, Repairs, Insurance
  • Repair Provider Management
  • Policy Renewal & Coverage Overview
  • Marketplace Search & Filtering by Device Type

How It Was Built

Our process
01 .
Domain Research & Feature Scoping

Researched how clinics currently manage device maintenance, insurance, and procurement — the tools they use, the friction they experience, and the gaps no existing product addresses. Mapped the three pillars of the platform — management, insurance, marketplace — and defined how they share data and connect to each other.

02 .
Platform Architecture

Designed the underlying data model — devices as the central object, with repair requests, insurance policies, and marketplace listings all linked to a device record. This structure means every action taken on a device is visible in one place, whether it is a service request, an active policy, or a current listing for sale.

03 .
Device Management & Repair Flow

Built the clinic-facing device management interface and repair request system — registration, issue reporting, technician assignment, and status tracking — with a service provider side that receives, manages, and updates repair jobs.

04 .
Insurance Module Development

Built the insurance layer — policy creation per device, coverage display, renewal management, and claim submission with supporting documentation. Designed to be self-service for clinics while giving insurance administrators the oversight they need to review and process claims.

05 .
Marketplace Development

Built the two-sided marketplace for new and used medical devices — seller listing creation, product pages with specifications and condition details, buyer search and filtering, and a transaction flow that handles both commercial suppliers and individual clinic sellers through the same interface.

Behind the
decisions we made.

Three Products in One — Without Feeling Like It

Device management, insurance, and a marketplace are three distinct product categories. The risk was building something that felt fragmented — three separate tools stitched together rather than one coherent platform. The solution was making the device the single thread that connects everything. Every device a clinic registers becomes the anchor for its repair history, its insurance policy, and its potential marketplace listing. A clinic never has to re-enter information across the three modules — the device record carries it.

The Used Device Marketplace Trust Problem

Buying used medical equipment is not like buying a used phone. The stakes are clinical — a device that fails in a medical setting has consequences. The marketplace was designed with this in mind: verified seller profiles, mandatory device condition disclosure, service history from the device management module surfaced directly on the listing, and a structured inquiry process before any transaction is initiated. Trust was not a feature — it was the foundation the marketplace had to be built on.

Insurance as a First-Class Feature

Insurance is often treated as an afterthought — a PDF attached to an email, managed entirely outside the product. Bringing it inside the platform created something more useful: a policy tied to a specific registered device, with repair history available when a claim is submitted and renewal reminders triggered automatically. The integration meant claims could be processed with full device context already available, reducing the back-and-forth that typically delays settlements.
